TLDR

A Malaysian man was left baffled after discovering a note left by an unknown individual on his motorcycle.

In a post on Threads, the man, known as Heus, shared that he had visited a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya. However, when it was time for him to head home, Heus noticed that his helmet, which he had left on his motorcycle, was missing.

Upon closer inspection, Heus then found a note on his motorcycle, left behind by a stranger explaining what had happened to his helmet.

“Hi, brother. I’m sorry, but I have to borrow your helmet for one night. I’ll return it tomorrow and leave it with the security guard.”

To make matters even more baffling, the stranger explained that he had ‘borrowed’ Heus’s helmet because his own helmet had been stolen.

“I went to One Utama, and when I wanted to go home, I found this. How am I going to get back to Klang now?” Heus wrote.

According to Heus, the stranger has never returned his helmet to this day. Despite the incident, Heus said he chose to forgive the stranger and even prayed that the person would eventually be able to afford his own helmet.

Netizens’ reactions

The post has since garnered attention from other social media users. While some expressed sympathy for Heus, others were left dumbfounded by the stranger’s brazen actions.

It also emerged that similar incidents had happened to other Malaysians, many of whom shared their own experiences in the comments section.

“This happened to me too last year at IOI Puchong. Thankfully, the police gave me a white helmet to wear; otherwise, I might not have been able to return home. If this stranger was really desperate, I don’t mind, but if he actually stole my helmet, I pray he won’t be comfortable wearing it. They wrote a note but didn’t include a phone number, yet somehow had time to draw on the note.”

One user commented, “I had a similar experience at KLIA. In the end, I rode my motorcycle home from KLIA to Damansara without wearing a helmet. I felt like a hero in a Tamil movie, riding with sunglasses but no helmet.”

“Something similar happened to me at e-Curve. I parked my motorcycle and left my helmet hanging on the handlebar because I had another helmet inside my bike. When I came back, my helmet had been swapped with an old one. I don’t know whether to be sad or laugh.”
