A video recently went viral showing a homeless man being mistreated by a female security guard and another man for sleeping on a walkway.
The video begins with the security guard turning on a water hose, while a homeless man is seen sleeping in a fetal position on the walkway.
Seemingly without warning, the security guard splashes the sleeping man with water, forcing him to get up.

As if that weren’t enough, another man storms toward the homeless man, gesturing angrily before delivering a kick.
The video later shows the man’s bag of belongings being thrown at him before he is kicked a second time. He is also splashed with more water before eventually getting up and leaving.

Shared on Threads, the video has since garnered public attention. Unsurprisingly, many condemned the actions of the security guard and the man for their lack of compassion.
“Poor man. Why do you have to splash water and kick him? You could’ve just told him nicely to move.”
One user said, “This is so sad. It’s the rainy season now, you can get cold even after showering at home, let alone being splashed like that. He might not even have a change of clothes.”

However, one user shared their own experience with homeless individuals and the mess they left behind.
“I had a homeless man like this in front of my office. He liked to lie down in front of the door. He often peed and defecated there. We couldn’t tell him nicely because he’s insane. We don’t have cleaners, so in the end, we workers had to deal with the mess.”

AmBank issues statement on incident
AmBank issued a statement on 25 November about the incident which apparently occured outside of its Taman Maluri branch in Cheras. The bank said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident, stressing that no one deserves such mistreatment.
AmBank confirmed the security guard was assigned to the branch but clarified she was employed by an external security provider. The bank added that the man who kicked the victim is believed to be a cobbler with no ties to AmBank.
“Regardless, we expect all personnel representing our bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct,” it said, adding that it is cooperating with authorities to prevent similar incidents.
