An unemployed man was sentenced to 30 years in prison and 13 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to raping and murdering a nine-month-old baby whom his wife had been babysitting.
According to a report by FMT, Badruldin Mohamed, 40, was charged on 12 May, 2021, under Sections 302 and 377C of the Penal Code for murdering and sodomising the child at a house in the Lembah Subang PPR flats between 8 AM and 3:30 PM on 27 April, 2021.

That same evening, the victim's mother, Robiatul’ Adawiah Aziz, was informed by Badruldin's wife that her baby had been taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital after being found unconscious.
Sadly, the baby was confirmed dead at 12:18 PM the next day.
According to case facts, an autopsy performed by Sungai Buloh Hospital forensic specialist Dr Rohayu Shahar Adnan revealed injuries to the victim's anus caused by a blunt object.

Traces of Badruldin's DNA and semen were also found in the baby's large intestine and on the anus.
The cause of death was determined to be smothering.
The court ordered that Badruldin serve his custodial sentences concurrently from the date of his arrest on 29 April, 2021.
