Malaysia isn’t the only Southeast Asian country facing floods from continuous rain. Several areas in Thailand, including popular tourist spots, were badly affected. As a result, many foreign visitors, Malaysians included, were stranded.
However, one Malaysian man found himself in an even trickier situation than just being stranded in the flood.
The man, known only as Razali, 45, had gone to Hat Yai, Thailand, with friends to ‘ease his mind’. But the problem was, he had previously lied to his wife, claiming he was attending ‘an important meeting’ in Kuala Lumpur.

When he realised he was trapped as floodwaters rose, Razali decided to double down on the lie instead of admitting the truth, by telling his wife that KL was severely affected by floods, with water reaching chest level.
However, the lie didn’t last long as he accidentally shared his live location, revealing he was actually in a motel near the Hatyai Floating Market.
The wife wasn’t surprised at all
Razali’s ordeal was shared in a post on Facebook. But his wife had suspected something was off long before he sent the live location.
“I was not at all surprised. I already suspected something when I saw he had packed Hawaiian shirts and shorts when he said he had a meeting to attend in KL. Since when does KL have a beach?” she said.

As of yesterday, many places in Thailand are still experiencing rising water levels following continuous rain. Rescue operations have since been deployed to evacuate victims to safer locations.
