If you frequently visit the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the festive season to score great bargains and shop for festive delicacies at the bazaars, well we’ve got sad news for you.

Your trip to the bazaar Ramadan in KL this year may be your last time ever as the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has decided to ban Ramadan and Deepavali bazaars that take place on Jalan Masjid India and Lorong Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The drastic decision was made due to the mountainous complaints the city hall have received revolving around mostly mismanagement and cleanliness issues.

Any of you go to the Ramadan bazaar religiously each year?
“We will not allow any more Ramadan or Deepavali bazaars in Jalan Masjid India, Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman and its surrounding areas,” DBKL Mayor Tan Sri Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz told The Star.

The Ramadan bazaar started in 2003 with about 100 stalls.

According to the mayor, throughout the period of the bazaars, the entire area was littered with rubbish everywhere and there were also illegal stalls being set up.

Look at the sea of humans!
“There was an incident where one of our enforcement officers was splashed with hot oil while doing his rounds,” Tan Sri Mohd Amin said.

“Business owners have also been complaining about loss of revenue due to the stalls blocking their entrance,” he added.

However, Malaysians can still visit the night market held at the Lorong Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman every Saturday.
