You’ve probably heard of flexible working hours but it’s usually implemented in private companies in Malaysia.
But soon, federal government agencies will also be able to enjoy flexible working hours.
Bernama reported that flexible working hours (FWH) will soon be implemented effective 1 August in every federal government agencies across the country. The new policy is to replace the current staggered working hours (SWH) system.
According to Service Circular 05/ 2019 which the Public Service Department uploaded to its website today, officers may start work anytime between 7.30am and 9am and leave between 4.30pm and 6pm to complete one working day.

The FWH is applicable to all states except on Thursday for Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor. Government servants in these states may choose to end their work day at between 3 to 4.30pm.
So, how flexible will the flexible working hours be?
“For example, an officer who started work at 8.07am may leave the office at 5.07pm,” the circular stated.
But before you get riled up because this may cause irregular hours at the immigration, JPJ or other government services, department heads may instruct officers to start work at an appropriate time as required.
So, what do you think of the new system guys? Would it be more efficient when such working hours are introduced?
