Hearing Malaysians excelling in international ballet competition is something unheard of (or perhaps not being reported enough in the media), but today, you’re going to hear about it.

14-year-old Cheyenne Lok recently danced her way to the top of the International Ballet Grand Prix Singapore (IBGPS).

The young ballerina managed to beat out over 170 dancers from all over the world to bring home the IBGPS Grand Award, the top and highest ranked award in the competition afor participants aged 13 and 14.

Congratulations to all winners.
By excelling in the competition, Cheyenne also received scholarships to ballet programmes at Elmhurst Ballet School, The Australian Ballet School, and New Zealand School of Dance.

A total of 60 awards were given out during the five-day competition, which was open to ballet dancers aged seven to 18 of all nationalities and skill levels.

If someone asked us to do ballet we'd probably look like this:
Cheyenne told The Star that she was "shocked" when the judges announced that she was the winner of the competition.

According to the news portal, she has been attending ballet classes daily and practiced ballet for over a decade, so we’re pretty sure she’s proud that all of her hard work finally paid off.

Congratulations Cheyenne for putting Malaysia on the map! We believe that you’ll be a very successful and popular ballerina in years to come.
