According to BERNAMA, the free admission initiative began on 18 May in conjunction with International Museum Day 2026. National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the programme aims to encourage more people, especially younger generations, to visit museums and appreciate the nation’s history and heritage.
“We also hope the public will value the role of museums as institutions of knowledge, catalysts for unity, and platforms for nation-building,” he said.
Below is the list of museums offering free admission to Malaysians:
- Muzium Negara (National Museum)
- National Textile Museum
- Malay World Ethnology Museum
- Orang Asli Crafts Museum
- National Automobile Museum
- Lembah Bujang Archaeological Museum
- Perak Museum
- Music Museum
- Malaysia Architectural Museum
- Matang Museum
- Kota Kuala Kedah Museum
- Kota Kayang Museum
- Kota Johor Lama Museum
- Labuan Museum
- Labuan Marine Museum
- Chimney Museum
- Sungai Lembing Museum
- Customs Museum
- Lukut Museum
Aaron also said the ministry, through the Department of Museums Malaysia and in collaboration with the Johor Heritage Foundation, will organise the International Museum Day 2026 celebration in Johor from 23 to 30 June.
