Le Méridien Putrajaya’s Ramadan Buffet Brings Comfort Food & Variety Under One Roof

food

Ramadan buffets can sometimes blur into one long line of curries and kuih, but Le Méridien Putrajaya manages to keep things interesting this festive season. Its Destinasi Rasa buffet at Latest Recipe leans heavily into comforting Malaysian favourites, throws in a solid dose of international flavours, and wraps it all up with live cooking, premium seafood and Raya vibes courtesy of a live band.

Running from 19 February to 20 March 2026, this is one of those buffets where you actually need a game plan, because the spread is seriously extensive.

Gentle starts before the heavy hitters

Like any well-thought-out buka puasa, Destinasi Rasa doesn’t throw you straight into heavy curries. The Sup Kambing is a smart place to begin, clear yet aromatic, rich without being greasy, and deeply comforting after a long day of fasting.

From there, it’s almost inevitable that lamb takes centre stage. The Kambing Carik with Mandy Rice is one of the strongest offerings on the buffet: the shredded lamb is tender, spiced all the way through, and pairs beautifully with the fragrant, fluffy rice that absorbs flavour without turning soggy.

Equally indulgent is the Kambing Kuzi, rich and celebratory, while the Kambing Kurma Berkentang leans more comforting, with mellow sweetness and soft chunks of potato anchoring the dish.

Full‑flavoured mains

The Malaysian mains continue to impress with depth and variety. The Masak Lemak Daging Salai brings an unmistakable smokiness, its rich coconut gravy clinging to the meat without overwhelming it.

The Rendang Itik, meanwhile, is thick, richly spiced, and intense enough that you’ll want rice on standby. For contrast, Ayam Percik offers familiarity, arriving juicy with its spiced coconut glaze intact.

Fans of chewy, savoury dishes will gravitate towards the Daging Dendeng, while the Sambal Sotong delivers heat and brininess in equal balance. Vegetable dishes don’t feel like an afterthought either: the Pucuk Ubi Masak Lemak Cili Padi strikes a good balance between creamy and fiery, giving your palate a brief reset before the next round.

Kerabu, ulam & relief between bites

What keeps Destinasi Rasa from feeling overwhelming is the number of lighter elements woven into the spread. The Kerabu Mangga Sotong is a standout, tangy, refreshing and satisfying, while the Kerabu Kacang Panjang Kerang adds crunch with a subtle briny edge.

The inclusion of Umai Sarawak is a thoughtful touch, offering something clean and simple amidst all the richness.

Live stations, seafood & global fare

One of the most popular areas of the buffet is the live Seafood Bakar station, where seafood such as Blue Swimmer Crab, New Zealand Green Mussels and Red Prawns are grilled and wrapped in banana leaf. Served hot and fragrant, with a gentle smokiness, this is seafood at its most simple but most delicious.

Beyond Malaysian cuisine, Destinasi Rasa also leans into global offerings. The Sichuan Chili Chicken packs real heat, with that familiar tongue-tingling spiciness, while Japanese selections like sashimi bring some freshness. Then there’s Durian Sushi, which feels almost designed to spark conversations and is memorable.

Desserts: colourful & crowd‑pleasing

Dessert is where Latest Recipe goes full indulgence mode. The assorted kurma tower makes a striking buka puasa centrepiece, while the dessert counters stretch long with cakes, puddings and traditional sweets.

The Agar-Agar Malaysia taps into nostalgia, while lighter options like mango mousse offer relief from richer flavours. The chocolate fountain, paired with dried fruits, is pure theatre, especially popular with younger diners, while the aneka kuih muih selection showcases variety and colour, encouraging a bit of everything.

Our verdict

Food aside, the atmosphere plays a big role here. A live band performing Raya favourites keeps the energy upbeat throughout the evening, making the space feel festive rather than transactional. It’s the kind of meal that works for family gatherings, corporate iftars and longer dinners which stretches late into the night.

Destinasi Rasa at Le Méridien Putrajaya isn’t here to change the Ramadan buffet formula, and honestly, it doesn’t need to. What it does well is tighten everything up: solid Malaysian staples as the foundation, enough international options so you don’t get bored, and live seafood and grill stations that keep things interesting throughout the night.

If you’re looking for a buka puasa buffet that feels generous without being messy, festive without being overwhelming, and varied enough that everyone at the table finds something they love, this one’s a pretty good option.
