A 35-year-old local woman suffered serious neck injuries after a male acquaintance allegedly stabbed her while they were inside a car.
The incident occurred last night at about 9 PM in front of a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah. Kota Setar district police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the victim and the suspect, a 32-year-old man, worked as real estate agents.

“The victim was in the driver’s seat and the suspect in the front passenger seat when the incident occurred. The suspect fled the scene shortly after the attack,” he said, as reported by BERNAMA.
The victim was later rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for treatment. Thankfully, she is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect is currently remanded
About five hours after the attack, the suspect was arrested near a mosque in Taman Uda, along the Sultanah Bahiyah Highway, at about 1:50 AM.

In a report by Astro Awani, the man, whose identity has not been revealed, has been remanded for seven days, starting today until 24 May, by order of Magistrate Noor Shifa Mohd Hamzah at the Alor Setar court lockup.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation, and police are also working to track down the weapon used in the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a weapon.
At the same time, police have advised the public not to speculate, as it could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
