TLDR

  • A woman from China has gone viral after she allegedly jumped from an upper level of the KLIA departure hall after being unable to board her flight home due to not having a boarding pass and lacking funds.
  • The woman was seen acting aggressively while being escorted by security personnel and was later detained under Section 7 of the Protected Areas Act 1959.
  • She entered Malaysia on 30 April for a holiday with a friend but failed to purchase a return ticket, which led to the incident at KLIA’s International Departure Gate.

Last month, a woman from China went viral globally after videos of her heated dispute on an AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur were shared online. The incident reportedly occurred after the woman, surnamed Lee, became emotional when she was unable to communicate with the cabin crew in Mandarin.

While that incident had passed, another woman from China has since gone viral after she allegedly jumped from an upper level of KLIA’s departure hall upon discovering she could not board her flight home.

It is understood that the woman did not have a boarding pass, as she had run out of money to purchase one, which reportedly led her to take such drastic measures.

In a video shared online, the woman, dressed in a white crop top and white pants, can be heard screaming as security personnel attempted to escort her away. She later lay on the floor before being carried away by three female security officers, as onlookers gathered on the level above watched the situation unfold.

First entered the country on April 30

KLIA Police Chief ACP M. Ravi said the incident took place yesterday (17 May) at International Departure Gate C. The suspect was found to have passed through the security inspection autogate without a valid ticket. She was later seen acting aggressively when approached by security personnel for inspection.

“The woman had entered the country on April 30 for a holiday with a friend but did not have enough money to purchase a ticket to return to her home country,” he said.

She was later detained and remanded for one day under Section 7 of the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959, which carries a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.
