A disgusting act by a Nepalese security guard who sodomised a cat backfired when the Sessions Court here on Wednesday imposed a fine of RM40,000 on him.
Arman Shah, 33, received the sentence after pleading guilty before Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak to one charge of cruelly abusing the animal.
The court ordered the man to serve 15 months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.
According to the charge, the unmarried man was accused of abusing the animal on the fourth floor of an apartment in Kota Kemuning, Section 31, at 12:30 AM on 15 November.

The charge was framed under Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which carries a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment or a fine not exceeding RM100,000, or both, upon conviction.
Pleaded for a lighter sentence
During the proceedings, Arman, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lighter sentence.
“I’m guilty, please reduce the punishment. I want to return to Nepal because my mother is sick,” he said.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Sofea Jaysal stressed that the accused’s conduct was extremely excessive, cruel, and should never be normalised.
“This case has attracted public attention, causing anger and concern among the public. We request a heavy sentence as a lesson not only to the accused but also to society,” she said.
On 21 November, Sinar Harian reported that the man had been sentenced to four months’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here on two charges, being half-naked in public and entering Malaysia without valid documents.
