TLDR
- Influencer Pudds went viral after being charged RM381 for 12 days parking at KLIA Long-Term Car Park, citing a promotion that MAHB said had ended earlier.
- KPDN took action against MAHB to improve advertisement clarity and confirmed affected users can claim refunds for overpayment with proof.
- Pudds rejected private talks, demanded public transparency, and noted no public apology from MAHB despite the issue being addressed.
Last month, a Malaysian influencer went viral after sharing her reaction to a parking charge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) Long-Term Car Park (LTCP).
The influencer, known as Pudds, shared that she had to pay a shocking amount of RM381 for 12 days of parking. According to her, she had originally parked at the LTCP after believing a parking rate promotion she had seen online.
However, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has since clarified that the promotion Pudds was referring to had actually ended on 24 February.
The situation became more confusing when Pudds later shared in a video that the original promotion price she saw came from a post that had been published on 4 March.
The original 4 March post has since been deleted, and MAHB has requested a private meeting with Pudds to resolve the issue.
Pudds then replied by publicly rejecting the offer, stating that the issue should be addressed publicly as it not only affected her but others as well.
“I will not participate in private discussions or phone calls where there is no public paper trail. This issue started publicly, impacted the public, and will be addressed publicly."
"What I demand is full transparency. Issue a clear public statement explaining why an ‘expired February promotion’ was still actively advertised on Facebook on 4 March,” she said in a post on Instagram.
The influencer also said that she had submitted a formal complaint to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
KPDN has responded
In an update, Pudds shared that KPDN had finally responded to the complaint she made.
In a lengthy reply via email, KPDN said it has taken action against MAHB, which included:
- Improving its advertisements by clearly including key elements such as the term “online booking”
- Clearly stating the end dates of promotions to avoid confusion and misunderstandings in the future
Furthermore, KPDN clarified that those affected are eligible to claim a refund for overpayment if the charges imposed are not in accordance with the prices set by the relevant party.
Those who wish to make a claim will need to include proof of payment and relevant booking records.

No public apology and no show of accountability
Despite calling KPDN’s response a “huge win for consumer rights in Malaysia,” Pudds said there is still no public apology from MAHB regarding the issue. MAHB also reportedly denied allegations that it had “quietly” increased parking prices.
In the end, Pudds said she is still glad that she fought for the matter until the end and hopes that the issue will not discourage others.
