Health Ministry: Coronavirus Will Not Turn You Into A Zombie Or Make You Act Like One

untitled-design-(33).jpg

There's so much paranoia surrounding the whole novel coronavirus outbreak, it sometimes gets ridiculous.

So much so that it has become a little difficult to tell if people are serious or joking when they post things like 'coronavirus, also known as the Wuhan virus, causes people to act like zombies'.  This is especially true when the 'jokes' are shared on the internet, where words can be interpreted in many ways.

Fake news, guys

We really hope that the people who've been saying this were joking, but just in case they weren't, the Health Ministry tweeted to clarify the matter over the weekend.

In the tweet, the ministry stated three facts about coronavirus that should be viral, one of which was "It is not true that individuals infected with the virus act like zombies".

The other two points were that patients can be cured, and that the outbreak is not as serious as SARS or MERS which had higher death rates.

Seriously guys, as scary as the virus outbreak sounds, our Health Ministry, the government and those working in the medical field have been working tirelessly to contain it and so far have been doing a great job.

There haven't been any new cases in days, the public are continually being updated on the latest information and extra measures are being taken to keep things safe.

Let us cooperate and not share everything we hear/read without checking first.

Speaking about verifying news before sharing, there's been a doctored infographic, kononnya by World Health Organisation (WHO), that's also been making the rounds.

Unverified news popping up everywhere

It looks exactly like the original one posted by WHO, with a slight difference.

One of the points was changed from 'Avoid unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals' to 'Avoid unprotected sex with live wild or farm animals'.

We have to admit, this is quite hilarious, but please add a disclaimer when you share such things because, believe us when we say this, some actually believed this is true and were outraged by it.
