Serenia City in Sepang came alive on 6 December as thousands of Malaysians laced up their sneakers for Kita RunFest 2025, a vibrant festival that blended fitness, family fun, and environmental awareness.
Organised by Astro in partnership with Sime Darby Property, this year’s event wasn’t just about running, it was about coming together for a cause that matters.
More than just a run
The energy was palpable as 2,455 runners took on the 5km and 10km routes, a huge leap from last year’s 1,300 participants. Beyond the race, the festival drew an impressive 6,800 visitors, proving that Malaysians are embracing active lifestyles and sustainability with open arms.

Kita RunFest was designed as a full-day experience for families and friends. Over 30 local businesses set up shop, offering everything from artisanal crafts to delicious bites, creating a lively bazaar atmosphere. Kids squealed with joy meeting beloved characters like Didi & Friends, while parents explored interactive booths focused on eco-friendly living.

The Oga Street Challenge added a playful twist to the 5km route, inspired by Astro’s environmental education IP, Oga. And when the sun dipped, the stage lit up with electrifying performances by Akim, Nadeera, Mimifly, and Soo Winci, turning the evening into a mini-concert under the stars.
Running for a greener tomorrow
Beyond the fun, Kita RunFest carried a deeper purpose. Proceeds from the event will support Astro’s Rimba Kita initiative, which champions forest protection, conservation education, and community-driven sustainability projects. It’s a reminder that every step taken at the festival contributes to safeguarding Malaysia’s natural heritage.

Astro’s Group CEO, Euan Smith, summed it up perfectly: “It means a great deal to us to see families, runners, and partners standing side by side."
"Today’s turnout is a testament to the strength of community spirit, and we are honoured to play a part in creating experiences where Malaysian families can connect, move, and have fun with a positive purpose.”
With strong support from sponsors like KAON Group, Alphabet Capital, CIMB, TOP, Uphamol, Borneo Springs, Love Nature, and Salad Atelier, Kita RunFest 2025 proved that when Malaysians come together, amazing things happen, for our health, our families, and our planet.
