NEXT ON HITZ Enters Final Stretch as 14 Finalists Compete for a Full-Time Radio Role

If you’ve ever dreamed of being the voice that wakes up Malaysia or keeps commuters company during the drive home, HITZ is turning that dream into reality.

After weeks of nationwide auditions, NEXT ON HITZ, HITZ’s radio announcer talent search, has entered its most exciting phase yet. Fourteen aspiring radio personalities from across Malaysia have made the cut, earning themselves a place behind the scenes at HITZ where they’ll spend two intense weeks proving they’ve got what it takes to go on air.

Earlier, HITZ put out an open call through its official TikTok, inviting Malaysians with personality, presence and passion for radio to submit audition videos. The response was overwhelming, with more than 400 hopefuls stepping up to the mic virtually.

From that pool, 14 finalists were shortlisted, each one now a step closer to becoming the next voice you’ll hear on HITZ.

From 27 April to 8 May 2026, the finalists will be based in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, fully immersed in the fast-paced world of radio. From 3 to 8 May, the competition intensifies further as they move into on-location stays at Tribeca Bukit Bintang, turning the experience into a true test of endurance, creativity and adaptability.

To face real world challenges

Over the course of the competition, the finalists will be put through a series of real-world challenges designed to mirror the demands of professional radio life. Tasks include scriptwriting, celebrity interview sessions, vox pop assignments, and basic content editing, giving participants hands-on exposure to what happens both on air and behind the scenes.

What makes this phase especially exciting is the mentorship element. The finalists will receive direct guidance from the HITZ Morning Crew, Anne, Ili, and Prem, who will be working closely with participants to help refine their broadcasting skills, confidence and on-air personality.

According to HITZ Brand Manager Sean Farrell Matjeraie, this stage is where passion meets practice. “This stage is designed to fully test the participants as they prepare to step into the role of a HITZ announcer,” he said. 

“Through a series of challenges, they will gain hands-on experience with guidance and mentorship from the HITZ Morning Crew, who will help nurture and shape their potential into that of a professional radio personality.”

He also expressed appreciation for the nationwide support the initiative has received, adding that the response has uncovered “an incredible pool of talent from across Malaysia.”

For the finalists, the stakes are high, but so are the rewards. One standout will walk away with a full-time role at HITZ, complete with a one-year contract worth RM50,000, and the chance to officially join one of Malaysia’s most recognisable radio brands.

Fans and supporters can follow every twist, task and tearful goodbye as eliminations will be announced daily and exclusively on HITZ’s official TikTok, from 8 PM to 9 PM leading up to the final stage.
