Calling All Film Buffs: The KL Eco Film Festival is on From 14 – 16 October

The 9th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival will be held at Publika this 14 – 16 October. The three-day festival is jam-packed with activities for the whole family. You can view the guidebook for a comprehensive look at what's in store, but for the film buffs among us, we've compiled some of the must-attend events for you right here: 

Film Screenings

The Disappearing Hills

Discover the truth behind the rampant government-approved deforestation of Cameron Highlands and watch the real-life stories of our Malaysians living in Cameron Highlands. You may also meet the man behind the documentary, Yeo Kai Wen, at the screening.

No Haze Without Fire

Made by Indonesian director Maryo Saputra Sanuddin, the film documents the effects of the annual forest fires in Indonesia on their people (an unbelievable 18 years so far) and the impact of the haze on its neighboring countries, i.e., Singapore and Malaysia.

Workshops

Films for the Environment

The workshop is conducted by Harun and Lara – both with more than 25 years of documentary film experience – and they will speak about their latest project, Tigers in Motion, the need for film as a communication tool, different platforms for you to get your voice heard, and the challenges they face in trying to make a difference in Malaysia's environmental landscape.
