- Netizens explained that resignation is the employee’s right and that employers cannot stop it, the employee only needs to complete the notice period.
A Malaysian woman recently took to social media to share a problem she encountered with her employer. Her post quickly sparked discussion after she alleged that the company had refused to accept her resignation letter.
She also claimed that the company even told her to look for a replacement exactly like her if she wished to be released from her role.

The woman said she had already submitted her resignation but was baffled by the company’s response.
“I’ve already submitted my resignation letter, but the company refused to accept it. They even told me to find a replacement, and if I cannot find someone exactly like me, they won’t let me leave,” she wrote.
She added that she was already mentally exhausted from working for the company and decided to resign without having another job lined up.
“Just leave when your notice period ends.”
The post has since garnered attention from other Malaysians who were equally puzzled by the company’s stance. Many pointed out that a resignation letter does not require the employer’s approval, as it is the employee’s right to resign.
“We were told back then that in the professional world, there are two things that are within our rights, salary and resignation. If you’ve handed in your resignation, just serve the notice period and leave after that.”
