TLDR

  • The toll system at Genting Highlands will come into effect on 28 May, with charges imposed at the Genting Sempah and Gohtong Jaya entry points.
  • Toll rates vary by vehicle class, ranging from RM3.30 for taxis to RM25 for heavy lorries, while motorcycles and emergency vehicles are exempt.
  • Permanent residents of Genting Highlands can enjoy a 10% discount and purchase a six-month season pass for unlimited entries starting 28 June.

If you’re planning to head over to Genting Highlands this weekend, be prepared to cough up some extra money before entering.

This is because the toll system will take effect starting this Thursday (28 May). According to the authorised operator of the Genting Highlands road network, Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd (LCSB), payment will be collected at the entry points at Genting Sempah and Gohtong Jaya (at the Gohtong Raya roundabout).

Below is the price breakdown:

  • Class 1 vehicles (cars or vans): RM5
  • Class 2 vehicles (medium lorries): RM15
  • Class 3 vehicles (heavy lorries): RM25
  • Class 4 vehicles (taxis): RM3.30
  • Class 5 vehicles (buses): RM5

Vehicles under Classes 2, 3, 4, and 5 are required to enter via the “Lorong Khas” lanes or licence plate recognition (LPR) lanes.

Meanwhile, emergency vehicles, motorcycles, and private vehicles belonging to public servants whose workplace is at identified government institutions in Genting Highlands are exempt from the charges.

Six-month season pass for registered permanent residents

LCSB added that it will offer preferential schemes for those who reside permanently in Genting Highlands starting 28 June.

Under this scheme, eligible residents can register up to two Class 1 vehicles and enjoy a preferential rate that is 10% lower than the normal entry rate when using the LPR or “Lorong Khas” lanes.

On top of that, LCSB will also introduce a six-month season pass scheme for registered permanent residents.

Those eligible for the season pass will be entitled to unlimited entries into Jalan Genting Highlands throughout its validity period via LPR or “Lorong Khas” lanes, providing significant cost savings.
