TMJ Has Agreed to Run for FAM Presidency

Ever since the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, expressed his wish to let go of his position as president of FAM last year, football pundits and fans started speculating on who will be worthy enough to replace him and hold one of the most prominent and prestigious positions in Malaysian football.

Among the names that came up was Air Asia CEO, Tony Fernandez. He later denied having any interest in running for the top post although he did give a statement saying he will “consider it” if FAM asked him.

Today, it was learnt through a report from The Star that the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, or fondly known as TMJ, will be contesting for the position after he was given the blessings of his father, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. This is not the first time that TMJ will be contesting as he had previously contested and lost against the current FAM President, Tengku Abdullah, back in 2014.

TMJ will be contesting against former Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) President, Tan Sri Annuar Musa on March 25th. According to The Star, another two people who will most likely contest to be FAM'S next top gun are Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, and FAM Integrity Committee chairman Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat.

This news is an exciting development for local football fans as everyone is patiently anticipating for someone worthy that can take FAM under his helm and catapult our national football to greater heights. So, who do you think should be the next FAM president?
