According to a report by Sinar Harian, Kuala Terengganu Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Ismail, said the incident occurred while two officers from the Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters (IPD) Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit were on patrol.

“While passing through the area, the officers spotted a grey Proton Wira being driven suspiciously. The patrol officers approached the car and signalled the driver to stop for inspection. However, the suspect sped off in an attempt to flee the scene.”

A car chase ensued, with officers reportedly ordering the driver to stop using a loudspeaker. However, the teen refused to comply.

Eventually, one of the officers had to brandish his submachine gun as a final warning after the teen drove recklessly and nearly collided with the police vehicle.

The teenager eventually brought the car to a stop. Preliminary investigations revealed that he did not possess a driving license and had taken the car, belonging to his brother, without permission.

“The teen’s family was contacted, and his father arrived at the scene before he was detained for further investigation. A summons was issued for driving without a license, and he was advised not to repeat the offence.”
