Sunday marks the beginning of the 9th Para Asean SEA Games. Fresh off our success at the KL2017 SEA Games, our Malaysian contingent started the Para Asean Games campaign off with a bang after bagging seven gold medals, five silvers, and one bronze, putting us in the lead.
The gold medals were contributed by our para cyclists who basically ‘tapau-ed’ the whole event, sweeping clean all seven golds that were up for grabs.
Adi Raimie became the first athlete to contribute a gold medal via Cycling Men's Kilometer (C1,C2,C3). The 17-year-old also managed to clock a new personal best. His teammate, Mohd Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin bagged the silver medal.
The remaining six gold medals were won by Mohd Najib Turano (Cycling Men's Kilometer C4), Nur Azlia Syafinaz (Women's Sprint (B) and Cycling Women's Kilometer (B)), Muhammad Afiq Afify (Cycling Men's Sprint (B) Para and Men's Kilometer (B)), Zuhairie Ahmad (Men's Kilometer C50).

On Monday morning, our para swimmers continued the trend by clinching three silver medals via Carmen Lim (Women 100m Freestyle S8), Anderson Anak Jambak (Men's 50M Breaststroke SB3), Zhi Weng (Men's 200m Freestyle S14) and a bronze medal via Shu Cing Yau (Women's 100m Freestyle S14) so far.
Let’s continue to give our utmost support for our Para Asean team! We hope that our para athletes will match - or maybe surpass- the achievements we had during the KL 2017 SEA Games.
Malaysia boleh!
