The welcoming ceremony for Malaysia’s most successful team yet to the Olympic Games was an endearing affair, with thousands of supporters anticipating their return. The plane was given a water salute as it taxied to a halt on the airstrip, and the Olympians were brought to Bunga Raya Complex where thousands of people were awaiting their arrival. The last batch of athletes to arrive today were badminton players Datuk Lee Chong Wei, mixed-doubles pair Goh Liu Ying and Chang Peng Soon, as well as doubles pair Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong, all silver medal winners. The other shuttlers Tee Jiang Yi, Vivian Hoo Kah Mun and Woon Khe Wei, along with the stellar diving team of Pandelela Rinong Pamg, Cheong Jun Hoong (who won silver in synchronised diving), Nur Dhabitah Sabri, Ooi Tze Liang and Ahmad Amsyar Azman were also on the same flight.

Here is what took place at KLIA: Some of the athletes were deeply moved to tears by the response from the public at KLIA.

The Malaysian Olympic team was welcomed with a water salute as soon as the aircraft was making its entry.
