Remember when Indonesian football fans behaved violently towards Malaysian fans during the World Cup qualifying match in Jakarta last month?
Well, let's just say you reap what you sow.
As it turned out, our neighbour's national football association has been fined by FIFA over the incident.
According to a report in AFP, the Football Association of Indonesia was slapped with a USD45,000 (RM188,842) sanction for the ruckus they had caused.
“PSSI respects the legal process and FIFA's decisions,” the association's secretary general Ratu Tisha Destria said.
During the incident last month, in which Harimau Malaya beat Indonesia 3-2, metal objects, bottles, flares, among others, were thrown at Malaysian fans.
The authorities had to evacuate Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman from the premises as the violence intensified.
A formal apology had since been issued by his Indonesian counterpart, Imam Nahrawi.
Nevertheless, the national football team of Indonesia had to suffer the consequences for something they were not a part of.
So, lesson learned!
