Stop whatever you're doing guys, we have an important announcement to make!
More than 20 years after it made its official debut, Japanese toy manufacturer Bandai has officially re-released the original Tamagotchi!
Well, there goes our productivity.
According to tech site Mashable, the new Tamagotchi eggs will retain its six original designs/colours as well as its six original characters.

However, the tech site also noted that the new Tamagotchi is half the size of the original, but that did not stop fans from going absolutely crazy on social media:
Here comes the bad news: currently, the new Tamagotchi is only available for sale in Japan for around 1,900 yen (around RM77).
There's no word yet on whether the new eggs will be making its way to Malaysia, but if you are really desperate, you can try and buy one from Amazon Japan.
The original Tamagotchi was first released in 1996, and to date, it has reportedly sold more than 76 million units worldwide. 20 years down the road, the first generation Tamagotchi toy has become a much-sought after collectible, going for up to USD1,999 (RM8,800) on eBay. Yowza!
Now, if you'll excuse us, we're gonna go queue up to buy the new one now.
