6 Annoying Things That Happen When You Try To Watch The 2018 FIFA World Cup

worldcup.png
The FIFA World Cup fever has infected the world over, ever since the last tournament happened back in 2014 where Germany was crowned winners.

This year, the World Cup is held in Russia and we’ve seen some pretty cool, some heart-breaking, and some historical stuff happen just one week into the tournament.

What really caught our attention was everybody's current favourite squad Iceland, whose players are made up of doctors, a dentist, and a video director. In fact, it was the director who managed to save Lionel Messi’s penalty. How awesome is that?

Groundbreaking stuff aside, there’s always a few things that’ll get in our way whenever we try to watch the World Cup. Fuzzy footage? No live match? Those are just the tip of the iceberg.

We list down a few more annoying things that you may relate to as well.

#1 The Match Is So Blurry You Don’t Even Know Where The Ball Is

Where's the ball ah? Even Superman can't see it.
You’re all dressed up in full spirit to support your favourite team. You’ve gathered your friends to watch the match at your place. The match kicks off and a few minutes into it, you find yourself squinting at the screen. Why? The coverage is so fuzzy you don’t know exactly where the ball is! You can’t even see which player is passing the ball to whom. Turns out, you’re not watching in HD. Sigh.

#2 When You Want to Watch A Match But It’s Not On TV

What do you mean Germany vs Mexico is not on TV?!
Imagine going back to your hometown for Hari Raya and you’re so riled up and ready to watch one of the most anticipated matches in the World Cup. You tune in exactly on time just to discover something even more heartbreaking than not getting duit raya anymore: the match isn’t showing on TV. “Why now, why of all places and time?,” you ask as you cry violently.

#3 No TV, No Transport, No Money To Go Watch The Match

When everyone is Tweeting about the winning goal and you can't see it.
It’s just one of those days where the TV isn’t working, you’re too broke to go lepak at the mamak or even take a Grab there. So, what do you do? You depend on social media and of course, you're missing out in life.

#4 It’s Not Live, So Everyone Else Knows The Results Before You Do

Accurate representation of you after you watched the goal.
The match you’re watching is a delayed match, so naturally you’ll be a little left out. You tell yourself that it's alright, but then the group chat starts to buzz with non-stop updates and your friends talking about that crazy goal Ronaldo scored in the game. Now, you’ve just lost the element of surprise. Boohoo!

#5 You Wish You Were There

Wouldn't that be a dream come true?
Your favourite team is scoring more goals than anybody else in the tournament, your favourite keeper is performing well and claiming those #cleansheets, and you just can’t help but want to be there, live at the stadium, celebrating with your fellow fans.

#6 When You Want To Rewind Certain Parts But You Can’t

Haiya, cannot rewind meh?
The star player of your team was fouled in the worst way ever, and the offender earned a red card. Tensions are high, you’re pretty much in disbelief and are frantically pressing the remote to rewind and see what actually happened. But then it dawned on you: you can’t rewind the moment because you did not record it.
