Malaysian-born actress Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Michelle Yeoh has once again made the nation proud after becoming the first Malaysian to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Oscar-winning actress was honoured at a ceremony in Los Angeles yesterday (18 February). The event was also attended by celebrities such as Sandra Oh, Ke Huy Quan, and Awkwafina.

“I remember when I first went to the Walk of Fame because it’s very iconic. You want to go there because all your big heroes who’ve been in the business since you were a kid are there."
"I remember looking, ‘Oh, here’s so and so!’ So now, just to think that I’m getting it, it’s a dream come true,” Yeoh said, as reported by the Tribune.
According to the official website, Yeoh’s star is the 2,836th star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Well deserved
Hailing from Ipoh, Perak, Yeoh began her on-screen career in 1983 after winning the Miss Malaysia World contest. She later represented the nation at the Miss World pageant in London.

Yeoh rose to prominence in Hong Kong with films such as Wing Chun and Magnificent Warriors. She then moved to Hollywood, starring in numerous well-known productions including Crazy Rich Asians and Everything Everywhere All at Once, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2023.
